The Neuromuscular Centre/ALS Clinic has considerable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases and is recognized as a national reference centre for rare neuromuscular disorders. As a leading centre for ALS research, it makes a substantial contribution to current ALS research and is well connected with other research centres.
We offer multidisciplinary patient care to around 250 patients from all over Switzerland. Patients are seen on a regular basis, usually every three months. In addition, we are engaged in numerous research projects, which cover a broad spectrum ranging from quality of life research to PET and neurophysiologic disease markers, as well as clinical trials. Most of these projects involve collaboration with other ALS/MND centres. Clinical neurophysiology is a cornerstone in our routine clinical practice and in some research projects. Our mission is to provide holistic care to ALS patients and caregivers and to contribute to ALS research.
