The Umeå Multidisciplinary Clinical Care ALS Clinic was established in 1992 at Umeå University Hospital (NUS) and provides personalised care and support to patients and carers living with ALS and associated conditions in Northern Sweden.

The team works closely with community teams, ensuring that patients and their carers receive specialist knowledge and advice. The team also offers second-opinion clinical assessment of patients from other parts of Sweden and abroad.
A speciality is in-depth genetic counselling and cognition assessment. Parallel to the care team is the ALS clinical trial team that participates in FiH, phase-1, 2 and 3 drug trials.

The clinical team works closely with the Department of Neuropathology at NUS in a human brain bank autopsy program.
