ADAPT

ADAPT is the SFI Research Centre focusing on Human Centric AI focused on Digital Media Technology research, and with a strong Health Innovation focus. ADAPT combines the expertise of researchers at eight universities to focus on developing next generation digital technologies that transform how people communicate by helping to analyse, transform, personalise and deliver digital data more effectively for businesses and individuals.

The ADAPT Centre’s world class expertise in multi-stakeholder practices and structured knowledge and integration techniques, machine learning for content analysis and data science, will provide research-based solutions to the problems of multi-centric and multimodal data collation, and facilitate knowledge and data transfer in real time for future prospective clinical data collection, collation and advanced analytics. These research-based solutions will expedite novel strategies in trial design, power calculations, cost analyses and health economic modelling required by the pharma industry.  Technology companies and service providers with novel support tools, remote monitoring and metadata management will collaborate in the development of advanced integration strategies that will enable seamless transfer of data.

In collaboration with FUTURENEURO, the SFI Research Centre for Neurological Diseases, the ADAPT SFI Research Centre for Digital Media Technology will research a cutting-edge patient platform through which real time multimodal clinical data can be collected longitudinally in an efficient and user-friendly manner, and can be analysed in real time across multiple modalities. This platform will provide embedded state of the art informatics and advanced machine learning techniques. This will enable the separation of patients with different clinical expressions of neurodegeneration into different subgroups using multimodal data drawn from clinical encounter, imaging, biomarker and genomic interrogation and neuroelectric signal analysis suited to a personalised medicine approach for new treatments. These data will be coupled with advanced remote monitoring devices and applications for patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

The ADAPT Centre has an extensive international footprint in digital media and data science technology.   As a new era of precision medicine based therapies in neurodegeneration has opened, Ireland, as a leading Centre for applied clinical research with an extensive international collaborative reach, is well placed to address the extant challenges articulated by industry and academic researchers in terms of data science- driven solutions
